Witnesses recount botched bank robbery, shootout in Clinton Twp.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -  One suspect is dead and another still on the run after targeting a Bank of America branch at Gratiot and 16 Mile.

Some customers' cars were processed as evidence, one car with a bullet hole in the driver side door was towed from the scene.

Although the bank was full of people, none were injured in the incident.

Police say the armored truck guard was a good shot.

"I just heard gunshots from southbound Gratiot," Jeff Hernandez said. "My wife said look someone's shooting, saw the armored guard shoot  and someone was on the ground."

"He was still twitching and moving, that's when all the sheriffs and police pulled in," said Andrea Hernandez. "They told us to back away from him."

The Hernandezes beat police to the scene. The couple pulled into the bank of America after hearing gunshots. Andrea has medical training and thought they could help.

Jeff said he asked the man on the ground if he was alright.

"He didn't respond, he was just twitching," Hernandez said. "I could see he had a mask on, he had a bag of money and a gun on him."
