GOODELLS, Mich. (WJBK) - The former home of James VanCallis Jr. on 32 Mile road in Richmond is not far from where 14-year-old April Millsap was found beaten and strangled along the Macomb Orchard Trail last month.

The Macomb County Sheriffs Office says they have joined Michigan State Police, the FBI and Armada police in the search for her killer.
It's a search that a neighbor says led authorities to the same area three weeks ago. On Tuesday they were looking for evidence.

Sources tell Fox 2 that investigators were following a tip, interviewing the current homeowner and possibly searching the property.

Those living near the VanCallis family years ago say police may be focusing on a green barn that VanCallis, 32, the sole person of interest in the case, used to hide items in the woods behind it.

VanCallis is still behind bars in St. Clair County for drug charges, and has not been charged with or in connection with the young girl's death.

His home in Goodells has been searched twice. Sources say up to 15 pairs of shoes and boots were taken. Clothing and a blue motorcycle that neighbors have seen him riding is also all being processed for evidence.
