Tollway to close Algonquin Road in Park Ridge for bridge repair

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Algonquin Road under the Tri-State Tollway will close this week for bridge painting in the northwest suburbs.

Electronic and construction signs have already been put in place to alert drivers of the closure, scheduled for the week of Aug. 25, the Illinois Tollway said in a statement.

The road will be closed to traffic between Camp Ground Road and Oakton Street in Park Ridge, the Tollway said. Drivers will be detoured to River Road and Oakton Street.

Most bridge repair work is being done during off-peak hours, but Algonquin Road needs to be fully closed to allow the work to be completed in a shorter window of time, the Tollway said.

The Interstate 294 bridge work is part of a 15-year, $12 billion program called, “Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollyway Driving the Future.”
