2 men injured after small plane crashes in Arizona

Posted: Updated:

RIMROCK, Ariz. (AP) - Two men from Lakeside have been injured after the small plane they were in crashed at the Rimrock airport.

Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say witnesses reported that the single-engine aircraft was making a takeoff maneuver when it went down in terrain below the level of the runway about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say weather conditions were poor at the time with rain and low clouds.

Sheriff's officials say 61-year-old pilot Ronald Manette and 48-year-old passenger Grady Hillis both were found conscious inside the Mooney M20F plane and transported by ambulance to Flagstaff Medical Center.

They say both men were being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear where the plane was headed.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
