Police break down door of wrong home

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

Atlanta police knocked down and came threw the door of an 87-year-old grandmother's residence in search of a suspect.

Investigators were looking for a rape suspect, but apparently had been given the wrong address by the victim.

The homeowner lives alone and says she does not allow anything illegal to go on under her roof.

The breech of the door did not end in a confrontation because Mattie Walker was not home at the time.

Walker says she would have been "scared to death" if she had been home.

A local attorney and former prosecutor Ash Joshi questions whether police did adequate preparation before they went up to the door. Joshi says the account by the purported victim had inconsistencies which should have been the starting point for investigators to watch the house beforehand to see if any suspect lived there.
