DC Kenny Loggins fan reaches Kickstarter goal for living room concert

Posted: Updated:
A D.C. man who started fundraising efforts online to try and get Kenny Loggins to play a live concert in his living room says nobody needs to worry about him.

Erick Sanchez began a Kickstarter called "I want Kenny Loggins to play in my living room" a few weeks ago with the goal of raising $30,000 to host a Loggins show in his home.  He offered backers who donated $50 a 'One Night Only - Kenny Loggins Plays Some Dude's Living Room' t-shirt, a concert invite for a $300 donation, or a private meet-and-greet for those who ponied up $5,000.  Anyone who donated $20 would get a login to watch the concert in his living room live on the web--- from the comfort of theirs.

"Don't do it for me. Don't do it for Kenny, Georgia, and Gary. Do it for America," Sanchez wrote in his campaign's explainer.

Well, Sanchez's backers did it, and he met his goal around 10 p.m. Tuesday night.  We first talked to Sanchez at the beginning of his campaign back on August 4, but in a live interview on Good Day DC Wednesday morning, Sanchez said he really wanted to make his goal on Tuesday night, so he started hitting up everyone from his mom to his cousins to his ex-girlfriends (he joked that he didn't get those pledges) on social media, and before the night was over, he was there.

Sanchez says he hasn't actually spoken to Loggins since he reached his goal, but he did have a Skype meeting with him when the campaign first started to talk about the venture.

On Wednesday afternoon, Loggins' publicist released the following statement to FOX 5:

"The band is so happy that fans like Erick have taken our Kickstarter goals seriously, and once the Kenny Loggins & Blue Sky Riders album project is completed in 2015, we look forward to playing our new music for all the new and old fans to enjoy!"

Ironically, Loggins will be in Alexandria on Friday (August 15) for a show at The Birchmere.

Speaking of Kickstarter, Loggins has one of his own-- to raise money for a new album with the Blue Sky Riders!  Loggins has met his goal, reaching $111,366 in funds and beating his goal of $85,000.
