ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Four firefighters were hurt Tuesday morning when a fire truck hit a utility pole in Alexandria.  The accident happened on Beacon Hill Road at Anthony Street at about 4:30 a.m., and the crash brought down both the pole and power lines, leaving some customers in the area in the dark.

A Fairfax County Fire spokesman said Truck 11 was on its way to a call when the accident happened.  Four firefighters who were on the truck at the time of the crash were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.  No details were given on the specific injuries they sustained.

There's no word on the cause of the accident, but Fairfax County police continue to investigate.

Dominion Power says 773 customers were initially without power after the accident, and it may be later Tuesday before everyone's service is restored.
