Ilene Chaiken: Change Comes Slowly, You Don't See It Coming

Ilene Chaiken was with us this morning. The woman behind ‘The L Word' is the executive producer behind a new documentary called ‘The L Word Mississippi: Hate The Sin'.

It focuses on lesbians living in the conservative south where their sexuality clashes with faith and religion in the Bible belt.

1) She is an American television producer, director, writer, and founder of Little Chicken Productions. Chaiken is best known as being the co-creator, writer and executive producer of the television series The L Word.

2) Chaiken had previously written the screenplay Barb Wire (1996), and the television films Dirty Pictures (2000), and Damaged Care (2002) before the success of The L Word raised her profile. She was also the coordinating producer for the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and the associate producer for Satisfaction in 1988. Prior to writing and producing, she worked as an agent trainee for Creative Artists Agency, and as an executive for Aaron Spelling and Quincy Jones Entertainment.

‘The L Word Mississippi: Hate The Sin' premieres Friday night, August 8th at 9:00pm on Showtime.
