FOX 5 first featured Eric on Wednesday's Child more than a year ago with the Atlanta Police Department and now he's spending his days with his new dad!

When Eric's story was featured last year, he had been without a family for eight years. Now he has more family than he ever could have imagined and loves his new dad Duane Stallings.

“Let's just say if you have family, you have more people that care about you,” said Eric.

Before the adoption, Stallings spent a year getting to know 17-year-old Eric. Stallings says instant fatherhood does have its challenged, but they're out-shadowed by the rewards.

There are thousands of other children still in the system, but at least one now has a place to call home.
