Man run over by bus near Wheaton Metro station

WHEATON, Md. -

A Hispanic man in his mid-20s is in the hospital after being run over by a us Friday.

Officials say he was running to catch up with the Ride On bus pulling out of Wheaton Metro stop in Maryland.

He was banging on the back of the bus for it to stop. That is when he slipped and fell. Both legs were crushed under the weight of the bus and now his left leg may have to be amputated.

Montgomery County police are investigating the incident. They are hoping the camera on the side of the bus will help reveal details of how this may have happened.

Metro Transit Police say this is a grim reminder that safety must always come first. If you miss a bus, do not run after it. Wait for the next one to arrive.
