PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says a 43-year-old Peoria man's body has been found along a forest trail and his death is being called suspicious.

The Sheriff's Office says George Wesley Montgomery had been shot and that a gun was found near his body along Bell Trail in Wet Beaver Creek Canyon. However, it says the manner of death has not been determined.

The canyon is located about 40 miles south of Flagstaff.

The office says there's an indication Montgomery was hiking on the trail when he last had contact with relatives Wednesday evening.

The office wants to hear from anyone who was hiking on Bell Trail Wednesday evening.

Montgomery was black, 6-foot-2 and wearing shorts and a yellow shirt. His 2002 white GMC Envoy was found near the trail.
