Caught On Camera: Mountain Lion Roams Norwalk Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
Norwalk, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A home's video surveillance system captured images of a lion walking through a Norwalk residential neighborhood this morning, but it was unclear what type it was.

The video shows what appears to be an aged lion walking in front of a home in the 11000 block of Tina Street near Orr and Day Road, said Norwalk Public Information Officer Jeff Hobbs.

The lion was reported by the homeowner to be a mountain lion, but it has a mane and looks more like the type of lion seen at a circus or zoo, he said.

It appeared to be non-aggressive, but city officials nonetheless want residents to be on the lookout for the animal and to treat it as potentially dangerous by staying inside and calling local law enforcement if it is seen.

A mountain lion sighting in Norwalk would be extremely unusual, Hobbs said.
