Police: Thieves Snatched Dog From Woman's Yard

Posted: Updated:

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A Tampa woman says someone stole her dog from right in front of her.

Donna Rushing says she let “Feffer” out in front of her home on West Rogers Avenue near Gandy and Dale Mabry when it happened.

Eight years of memories, eight years of love, eight years with Feffer was snatched away in seconds.

"I don't see them having a heart to take somebody's things that means so much to them why?" Donna asked.

It's been a few weeks, but the pain of losing her pup hasn't gone away, not even a little. Feffer, a micro-mini Schnauzer was outside Rushing's house when a car pulled up.

Rushing says a woman got out and lured the small dog over.

"She grabbed her up and put her in the car and the car took off," Rushing said.

There was nothing she could do.

"[It was] very upsetting. You think you might hear her, you’re hoping you come out and see her," she said. "I know she's missing us as much as we're missing her.”

Tampa police are trying to track down the dog-napper. Detectives think Feffer may have been targeted.

"We're looking for a Honda, possible gold and beige color, and we have some good leads on this we'll be following up,” said detective Janise Man-Son-Hing of the Tampa Police Department.

"Every day we hope she'll be in the yard or maybe somebody will bring her," Rushing said.

Donna and her other pups refuse to give up hope. Every day she puts up a sign where Feffer was taken.

All she wants is her safe return.

"Please bring her back home where we can become a family again with our broken hearts. We just want her home," Rushing pleaded.
