NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Equestrian, animal rights activist and philanthropist Georgina Bloomberg was back to work soon after giving birth to her first child in January.

The youngest daughter of former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg was likely influenced by the man who served three terms in office.

The former mayor has been focused on his philanthropic endeavors since leaving Gracie Mansion and only recently, six months later, has begun to take some time for himself.

"My father is playing a lot of golf and I think he's really starting to enjoy his time out of office and has enjoyed being a great, grandfather," said Bloomberg, 30.

The free-spirited-- "rebellious one"-- as she describes herself, Georgina Bloomberg is lending her name to fundraising efforts at the Southampton Animal Shelter.

"I've been an animal lover my entire life. I wanted to go out and help animals and do something positive for them," said Bloomberg.

A gala to benefit the shelter is taking place Saturday, July 19, 6:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.

"It's going to raise money for our spay/neuter program," said Bloomberg.
