Study may determine whether dog beach fouling water

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A study is being conducted to determine whether dogs are messing up the water at beaches along Chicago’s lakefront.

The National Resources Defense Council says Montrose Beach is one of the most contaminated in the area and some people think it’s because of the dogs who go swimming there and leave behind things that foul water.

DNA samples are being taken from several beaches along the lake front to determine what’s causing the contamination.

The samples are being sent to a lab for analysis.

Dogs and seagulls are often blamed for the pollution problems along some of our beaches.
