Child in stolen car found safe

ATLANTA, Ga. -

A little girl was stolen when a thief tried to take off with her father’s car not realizing she was in the backseat.

According to police, the scene unfolded when a car was taken from the area of Campbellton Road and Delowe Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Dennis Hendrick got the scare of his life when he left his daughter, Destiny Morgan, sleeping in the car with the air conditioning on and car running. He went into a store and when he came out his child and car were gone.

FOX 5 has obtained exclusive video of the suspect jumping into the car and taking off with the little girl in the back.

Destiny and the vehicle were located at a Chevron Station on the corner of Headland and Delowe Drive a short time later.

Destiny was still sleeping when police found her.

While Hendrick is thankful his daughter is back with him and safe, police are searching for the two men who stole the vehicle.

Atlanta police say it is never a good idea to leave your child alone in a car in any circumstances.
