Delaware County Teen Struck By Lightning Released From Hospital

Posted: Updated:
DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. -

A Delaware county teenager was in the hospital overnight after being struck by lightning during last night's intense storms.

Fox 29's Karen Hepp was live in Prospect Park, and was able to catch up with the victim's brother.

Dan Bodkin says his brother Dave had just run from the house to a car right by a telephone pole when all of a sudden he felt like he was struck by lightning.

"He said he was trying to open the door and he just got struck right in his arm," said Dan

Dan is still reeling and says the scene was frightening.

"Blood everywhere when I came in and it's just scary. It's mind-blowing," Dan recalled.

Medics rushed the 14-year-old Dave to the hospital where he was treated overnight.

When the athlete starts high school in the fall he'll have quite a story to tell, but right now he's telling his brother he's still rattled.

"He said I am glad to be alive and his thumb was numb," Dan said.
