Police: Two detained after SWAT standoff

ATLANTA -

Police say that two men are in police custody after a SWAT standoff at the Bent Creek Colony apartment complex on Tuesday.

Police were called out to the apartment complex Tuesday morning after receiving a tip that two men wanted on warrants out of Sumter County were in one of the apartments. The SWAT team took their time to determine if anyone else was barricaded in the apartment before making contact.

They say they a negotiator was able to talk the two men out of the apartment and they were taken into custody around 1 p.m. Both were checked out by paramedics before being turned over to Sumter County authorities.

Police say the pair had three weapons on them at the time of their arrest.

It was not immediately clear the charges for which the two men were wanted.
