Bond set for Clayton Co. man who left child in car

JONESBORO, Ga. - The man accused of leaving his baby in his car seat in a hot car while he ran into the Clayton County Courthouse appeared before a judge on Tuesday.

Courtney Lamont Kidd, 37, of Forest Park, made his first appearance on a felony Cruelty to Children charge. Deputies say he left his child in his vehicle while he ran into the courthouse on Monday. A someone spotted the child and called 911. Officials were able to safely rescue the child.

Kidd, responding to the judge's question of if he understood why he was charged, said that he did not.

The judge set his bond at $20,000 and ordered him to stay away from Alasia Kidd. His next court appearance is July 24.

The child is currently in the custody of his grandmother.
