PHOENIX (KSAZ) - One woman is giving a pet food diet a try.

Lots of people give their pets table scraps, but one woman is doing just the opposite.

"I'm eating healthy pet food for 30 days to promote ingredient awareness," said Dorothy Hunter.

Hunter owns a pet supply store in Washington state called Paws Natural Pet Emporium.

She started her bizarre diet last month where she eats nothing but pet food.

She's been documenting the whole thing on YouTube.

"I was really busy one day. We were getting ready for a car show in a hurry to get stuff done that day. I didn't want to take time to leave the store to get something to eat so I just grabbed a package off the shelf," said Hunter.

What started as a quick snack has now turned into a 30 day mission.

She says she's promoting ingredient awareness in order to get pet owners to take a closer look at what they're feeding their pets.

"People are so shocked by the story that they are actually reading the ingredients on products and asking,'What is this?' So, I'm really happy that came out, that was my main goal. People read the ingredients, be aware of what they're feeding to their pets, kids or themselves because there's a lot of stuff out there that's not very good," said Hunter.

She admits it hasn't been easy.

"There's a lot of people that think I'm crazy and for some reason, everybody thinks I'm single. I actually had a reality TV show ask me if I wanted to be on their dating game. I ad to let them know I was married," said Hunter.

While she says a lot of the foods are actually pretty tasty, not everything is worth a second bite.

"If I try something and I don't like it, my dogs are getting it. So that's worked out real well for them. They're happy with that part. They're a little confused as to why I'm eating the dog food, but they're getting over it," said Hunter.

The pet food diet comes to an end on Saturday.

Hunter says she can't wait and is most looking forward to having some grilled salmon with pineapple.
