Survey: Lewis, Preckwinkle defeat Emanuel in election for mayor

If the election for Chicago mayor were held today, a new survey says that Karen Lewis would defeat Mayor Rahm Emanuel, according to a report by the Sun-Times.

Karen Lewis is the head of the Chicago Teachers Union, and if she ran against Emanuel and the election were happening today, she would beat him by 9 percentage points. She led Emanuel 45 percent to 36 percent in the survey. Eighteen percent of likely voters were undecided.

However, even bigger news is if Emanuel ran against Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, she wouyld defeat him by 24 points. Preckwinkle won 55 percent of the vote in the survey, with Emanuel only taking 31 percent.
