New Attempt Made At Tree-Hugging World Record

Posted: Updated:

Tree-huggers unite! Portland residents tried this weekend to break the tree-hugging world record again.

The organizers of last year's tree-hugging event in southwest Portland revamped their attempt to break the record Saturday.

Last year, nearly 1,000 Portlanders were hugging trees simultaneously for a stretch of one minute.

The goal in 2014 was to have 1,500 people. However, the nation of Nepal attempted to beat the record with more than 2,000 earlier in July. The results of their attempt haven't been confirmed by Guinness World Records.

The number of participants on Saturday in Portland is not officially known yet.
