Police: 1 dead, 13 wounded in shootings Friday night

One person was killed and at least 13 others were wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening, police said.

One man was killed and two other people were injured in a possible drive-by shooting Friday night in the Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 8:13 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street, police said.

One man, 32, was shot in the head and was dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality Friday night.

A 30-year-old woman who sustained multiple gunshot wounds showed up at Loretto Hospital and was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. Her condition was not immediately known.

Another male, whose age was not yet known, was shot in the right arm and refused medical treatment, police said. He is not cooperating with authorities, police said.

A 41-year-old man later took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park with a gunshot wound to his hand, police said. He was listed in “stable” condition.

Additionally, a 37-year-old man was taken from the scene of the shooting to West Suburban Medical Center with a broken foot, police said. He was listed in good condition.

Police believe the shooting may have been a drive-by attack.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred at 10:40 p.m. in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Two males, whose ages were not immediately known, were shot in the 100 block of West 104th Place, police said, citing preliminary information.

One of them was shot in the arm while the other was shot in the back, and both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

Earlier Friday night, three people were shot in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The shooting happened about 9:55 p.m. in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue, police said, citing preliminary information.

A 54-year-old-man suffered a graze wound to the head and a 24-year-old man was shot in the back, police said. Both were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the arm and taken to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, police said.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

Earlier Friday evening, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood.

The teen was in the 7000 block of South Damen Avenue at 7:35 p.m. when a shooter approached from an alley and fired shots, striking him in the left ankle, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

About half an hour earlier, a man was critically hurt in a West Garfield Park shooting.

The man, 22, was in the 900 block of South Springfield Avenue about 7 p.m. when he was shot multiple times in the lower body, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

About ten minutes earlier, two men were shot in a possible drive-by attack in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood.

The men, ages 28 and 23, were both shot multiple times at 6:49 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Pershing Road, police said.

They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, but their conditions were not yet known, police said. Police said the shooting may have been a drive-by attack.

A man took himself to the hospital after he was shot in the foot Friday evening on the Far South Side.

The man, 23, was shot in the foot about 6 p.m. near the intersection of 115th Street and Prairie Avenue, police said.

Two persons of interest were in custody Friday night, police said, citing preliminary information.

The man took himself to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he is listed in good condition, police said.
