NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A woman crossing W. 95th St. and West End Ave. on Manhattan’s Upper West Side was struck and killed by a driver. The deadly incident was caught on camera.

Jean Chambers, 61, was rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital where she was pronounced dead on Thursday.

She had been dragged for a distance after being struck while in the cross-walk at about 11 a.m.

The 50-year-old male driver of the 2004 Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound when he made a left turn onto West End Ave. and struck Chambers, said police.

The driver remained on the scene and had not been charged in the deadly incident. A police investigation was ongoing.

Chambers was reportedly struck three blocks from her home and died two blocks from where a nine-year-old boy was struck and killed by a taxi in January.

Four pedestrians have been killed in the same area.

Mayor Bill de Blasio implemented a campaign to end roadway deaths shortly after taking office in January . The Vision Zero initiative was bolstered by the boy’s death.

De Blasio was asked on Thursday if the plan was aggressive enough.

“This is a very, very aggressive plan. We are moving it intensely. What will we do as a result of this incident is look at this particular intersection again and see if there are additional changes we can make there,’ said De Blasio.
