NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) - New Jersey State Police say they arrested the man wanted for punching another man in the face over a dog in Manhattan.

The assault was caught on video by a witness. The victim suffered a serious head injury after falling to the pavement on Tuesday, said NYPD officers.

NJ State Police released the mug shot of Corey Pohan, 32, of Bergenfield via social media on Thursday.

Pohan was arrested by NJ State Police on Wednesday afternoon after he ran from NYPD detectives who were transporting him to New York City in an unmarked car.

Pohan then climbed to the rooftop of the 16E/18E toll plaza on the New Jersey Turnpike where he was attempting to hide, according to police.

He was taken into custody and brought to Hudson County jail. NJ State Police say he is charged as a fugitive from justice and with criminal trespassing.

The NYPD said Thursday they were questioning a suspect in connection with the assault.

In the video, the suspect is seen approaching his victim and striking him with a closed fist.

The victim falls to the ground as the suspect runs off.

The NYPD says the violent incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at W. 55th St. and 9th Ave. in Manhattan.

The injured man was reportedly walking his small dog when the suspect stepped on the animal as he passed the pair, reported the NY Post. An argument ensued that ended with the assault.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.

The suspect was described by police as white, in his 30s, approximately 5'10" tall, about 170 lbs. with blonde, curly hair. He was wearing gray sneakers, a turquoise T-shirt and blue shorts.

Video of the vicious assault was released by police on Wednesday.
