UNNECESSARY REPORTS - Everyday a new government report is coming out on something. There are more than 4,000 required by Congress Virginia. Sen. Mark R. Warner’s says the problem is nobody usually reads most of the. Warner has launched an effort to eliminate or modify more than 60 unnecessary, outdated and redundant reports produced by federal agencies. Studies like "Keeping Dog &Cat Fur Protection out of Imported Clothing" cost $10,000. Warner says taxpayer could save tens of millions of dollars cutting unread reports.

CELL PHONE UNLOCKING HEARING - 9:30 a.m. If you buy a cell phone should you be allowed to unlock it and use it on any carrier? Right now you can't but today the US Senate will hold a hearing that could change that. Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear testimony on a bill which would allow people to ‘unlock’ their cellphones when changing providers. The bill, which will be considered on , would allow users to take their mobile device from one wireless network to another. It's opposed by the major wireless carriers. Dirksen 226

MD EZPASS SCAM - Scam artists are apparently trying to turn EZPass into "easy money". The Maryland Transportation Authority officials has issued a warning over warning of an email phishing scam that that claims to demand that E-ZPass holders to pay their unpaid tolls online. The MDTA posted a picture of one of the phony emails, which claimed that the driver was "in arrears" and demanded the recipient "service your debt in the shortest possible time." The MDTA says it's a scam email that's trying to gain personal information and should be deleted.

DISABLED VOTING - Should someone be disqualified from the voting if they are developmentally mentally challenged? A Voting Rights Act complaint to be filed today with the U.S. Justice Department in DC argues intellectual &developmental disabilities, including conditions such as Down syndrome, shouldn't automatically keep them from participating in elections. The Disability and Abuse Project wants seeks a sweeping review of voting eligibility arguing that thousands of people with those disabilities have lost the right to vote during the last decade.
