"Dentistry from the Heart"

Posted: Updated:
FARMINGTON HILLS, MICHIGAN - Realizing that many area residents do not have access to dental care, a Farmington Hills Oral Surgery group has decided to give back to the community and for one day, offer services at no charge. Attendees will have their choice of receiving a filling, an extraction or a cleaning. The event, being referred to as "Dentistry From The Heart", gets underway at 730am and runs through 5pm. The first 200 people in line are guaranteed to see one of the dentists. Appointments are on a first come, first serve basis.

The practice is made up of Doctors William Ruskin, Vejayan Krishnan, Aaron Ruskin and Sarah Kuo. "This event is about a small token of appreciation to the community that has supported us for more than 30 years.  This comes at a time of dire need to those who can no longer afford basic dental care.  We hope to put a smile on the faces of everyone who participates in this event- volunteers an patients, alike." said Dr. Vejayan Krishnan.

It is expected that dozens if not hundreds will begin lining up as people from throughout the Metro Detroit area are expected to descend on Farmington Hills.  While this is the first time "Dentistry From The Heart" has taken place in the Farmington Hills, there are 200 similar events throughout the country and more than 50,000 have received free dental care since its inception.

Volunteers are needed to staff this event in areas such as patient registration as well as working with those waiting in line. To volunteer, contact Rebecca at rcline@omsami.com

The Doctors are available for advance interviews and day of coverage is welcome.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates is located at 32905, West 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan or visit dentistryfromtheheart.org heart.org
