Navy Pier filled to capacity, no more guests allowed

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Navy Pier’s gates were closed Friday evening after it filled to capacity.

The pier issued a statement about 7 p.m. stating it had reached its maximum allotted number of guests, mainly due to the Fourth of July holiday.

No additional visitors will be allowed in, and any current guests who leave will not be readmitted, the pier said.

Guests can visit Saturday for the 10:15 p.m. fireworks show or come another day to see fireworks through August 30 on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. or Saturdays at 10:15p.m., the pier said.

Earlier, the pier’s on-site garages had filled up by about 2:30 p.m, and visitors were advised to use public transportation or other garages.
