Six People Injured As Stolen Tesla Crashes Into Building

West Hollywood, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) Six people have been hospitalized, three with serious-to-critical injuries, after a stolen Tesla struck a power pole, several vehicles and a building in West Hollywood early today before bursting into flames.

A Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle also sustained minor damage in an earlier collision as it pursued the stolen vehicle, LAPD Pacific Division Sgt. Campbell said.

Campbell who would not provide his first name, said two suspects stole the brand new Tesla from a dealership on the 5800 block of Centinela Avenue early today.

By 2:05 a.m. it was split in half, its back section resting between walls of the Congregation Kol Ami synagogue, its front half in flames after striking a power pole and then colliding with two other vehicles, on the 1200 block of North La Brea Avenue.

Campbell said one of the suspects was ejected from the vehicle. A videographer at the scene said he saw firefighters dragging the other suspect from the car as it burned.

Both suspects were in critical but stable condition, Campbell said.

Four of the five occupants of the other two vehicles hit by the Tesla were injured, one seriously, Campbell said.

The police pursuit ended when the patrol car crashed, he said. The stolen vehicle continued north on La Brea at "a high rate of speed," Campbell said, before it, too, crashed.

La Brea Avenue remains closed while the investigation continues.
