DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

A mother and her 10-year-old son were killed in a crash on I-285 in DeKalb County Friday morning. Two other family members were injured and taken to the hospital.

The crash involved a tractor trailer and a minivan, according to DeKalb County Police. Police say the tractor trailer experienced a breakdown which brought the truck to a stop and shortly after a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan struck the rear of the stopped tractor trailer.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-285 near Memorial Drive.

Sri Susanto, 43, was killed at the scene and her son, Hubert Lim, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Children’s Hospital at Egleston as a result of his injuries.

The four victims were traveling in the minivan. The father who was driving is one of the survivors. The other injured victim is his 13-year-old son. Police say the family were all residents of Johns Creek. FOX 5 learned the family was coming home from vacation when the accident happened.

All northbound traffic on I-285 was shut down for several hours following the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
