The MARTA Board has rejected the contract approved by the Clayton County Commission to ask voters this fall to approve a half penny sales tax to fund MARTA bus service only.
MARTA Board Chairman Robert Ashe says they approved a counter-offer this morning for a full penny sales tax referendum, which would fund bus and rail service in Clayton County.
He says they're also offering Clayton County additional protections to address concerns some county commissioners raised. He says Clayton County has until Sunday to approve the contract in order to hold a November 4th referendum on joining MARTA.
