Ventra changeover almost complete as deadline to switch nears

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The CTA's transition to Ventra will be 100 percent completed by the end of Monday.

Starting Tuesday the agency will no longer take magnetic stripe cards.

Along with the Ventra cards select personal bank cards will also be accepted and you can still use cash to get around on CTA buses.

If you haven't made the switch yet the $5 Ventra sign-up fee is being waived if you get your card at a retail store before July 7.

Lines at rail station Ventra machines are expected to be longer than normal.
