Metro fare increases starting Sunday

WASHINGTON -

Starting this Sunday, your ride on Metro will cost you more. Rail fares will increase by an average of three percent.

Trips of three miles or less will increase by five cents each trip. Maximum rails fare during rush hour will increase from $5.75 to $5.90. Off-peak maximum fares will increase from $3.50 to $3.60.

Parking rates are also going up 10 cents at all Metro-operated facilities. However in Prince George's County, most stations will see a 60 cent parking increase except at Landover, Addison Rd and Prince George's Plaza stations.

Bus fares are going up to $1.75 a trip whether you use SmartTrip or cash.
