Miss Delaware Allowed To Keep Scholarship After Crown Is Stripped

Posted: Updated:
DOVER, Del. -

A crown controversy in the first state, as Miss Delaware is stripped of her title.

But, she will apparently be allowed to keep $9,000 in scholarship money!

The reason her crown was stripped, according to the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization, is because of her age.

Amanda Longacre will turn 25 in October.

But state rules say Miss Delaware contestants must be between 17 and 24 years old through the whole year, something Longacre says was hidden in the contract.

She told Fox 29, she's devastated.

Pageant officials say Longacre did nothing wrong-- and had accurately reported her birthday on applications.
