Fire starts in apartment inhabited by squatters

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A group of squatters was living in an empty apartment near 24th Street and Washington when some of them got into a fight and a fire started on Thursday morning.

Phoenix police say there are several empty and boarded up apartments in the area, and a group of squatters decided to stay in one of them.

Some of the people got in some sort of fight and a fire started.

The people involved have been detained by police.

The fire was contained to one unit and has been considered a total loss.
