Michael Jackson's may be gone, but his music isn't and still is making a ton of money for the singer's estate.
According to Forbes, Michael Jackson has earned $700 million dollars since his death. That's as much as Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Jayzee combined since Jackson passed 5 years ago.
In the last year the total was $160 million! That's more than any other artists last year living or dead.
Most of that came from two Cirque du Soleil shows - Immortal and One. And, Jackson's music catalogue which includes copyrights to a number of big artists including the Beatles, Eminem and Lady Gaga.
Sharon Waxman with TheWrap.com says, "When Michael Jackson died, those of us who had been covering his estate for years - and I was one of those reporters - knew immediately that he was going to be worth many hundreds of millions more in death than he was alive and that has turned out to be the case."
Waxman says that when he was alive he spent money like it was water, he was nearly bankrupt, "but his music is still worth vast sums of money." Waxman chalks it up to such things as nostalgia, his obsessive fan base and the continuing popularity of his music. Says Waxman, "I think there was something other worldly about Michael Jackson. I saw documentary "This is It" the other night it's like his performance is coming out of every pore of his body. It's really remarkable."
