WASHINGTON (AP) — Police in Washington say a man who died in a fire and explosion at a condominium building intentionally set the blaze and committed suicide.

Forty-six-year-old Christopher Christofi was found dead after the explosion June 4 in a building in the 1600 block of Isherwood Street NE.

A department spokeswoman said in a news release on Monday that Christofi set the fire. She said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that Christofi's death was a suicide.
