Manhole explosion on Connecticut Avenue in NW DC

WASHINGTON - Fire and EMS personnel and police are responding to an explosion of a blown manhole cover on Connecticut Avenue and Macomb Street in Northwest D.C.

Connecticut Avenue was closed between Cathedral Avenue and Macomb Street, but have now reopened.

The District Department of Transportation says Pepco is reporting about 570 power outages related to the manhole explosion. It is estimated that the repairs will be done by 8 p.m. Tuesday.
