Laura's Likes: Father's Day Gifts

Posted: Updated:

Father’s Day is this Sunday and we have been scoping out the best gifts for your dad. I have found what I think are some really good ones this year.

IN1 Phone Case

This really cool phone case will turn your smartphone into a Swiss Army knife. This is the IN1 case -- as in everything you need, all-in-one case.

Shervin Azodi is the mastermind behind this product. He came up with the idea for the multipurpose case when he was at big dinner meeting, went to pull out a pen to sign some papers and couldn't find his pen.

He had a realization that his phone can do everything except sign papers, so he thought there has got to be a way to add a pen inside his cellphone case. And that led to the idea of adding a few more useful tools and he ended up with IN1 case, which he says does way more than just holds your phone.

It has a screwdriver, scissors, nail file, tweezers and other tools.

And I know what you are asking yourself now and the answer is “Yes!” The company tells me it is TSA compliant.

They make cases for the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy. IN1 case retails for $45.95. You can find it on

Birdie Box

I can't discuss Father's Day gift items without sharing something for the golfer. Meet the Birdie Box.

This is the latest in the discovery retail subscription platform. Each month, Birdie Box offers golf enthusiasts a unique way to experience premium golf products.

Sign up for a box a month and you will get three to five items from high-end golf apparel and accessories to equipment and gear.

It is a surprise each month. The retail value usually exceeds $100.

For example, April's box had G/FORE gloves, Greg Norman sunglasses, a divot tool and the April issue of Golf Digest.

A month subscription is $45. They are offered in one, three, six and 12 month options. Special boxes are offered for major golf events and holidays.

The Bubba Box is a slightly pricier option available now for Father’s Day. Bubba Watson, two-time Masters champion, selected the gear in this box. It includes a limited-edition Ping visor, Oakley polo, Titleist golf balls, performance socks, a Bubba head cover and a one-month Birdie Box subscription.

Trunk Club

And finally, we know most men don't like to shop. However, most men wear clothing. So, here is a way to simplify things for dad.

Trunk Club is a brand new concept. Buying clothes is no longer a painful process.

And for Father’s Day, you can set it all up for him and maybe order a trunk to get him started.

Trunk Club gives guys access to a personal stylist for free.

Here is how it works. You fill out a survey online. A stylist selects clothing based on the stated needs, puts the clothes, accessories and shoes in a trunk and ships it off.

The guy try it all on in the comfort of their home, pay for only what they want to keep and ship back what they don't want. No charge for shipping either way.

Prices and brands compare to what you would find in a retail store like Nordstrom.

It is not a monthly subscription service. They only send a trunk when you request one.

Your stylist keeps a record of what you have in your closet. You reach out when you need new items and they will ship a trunk to you.

A lot of the time, men will buy one item at the store, then have no clue what to wear it with. Trunk club stylists tell you how to mix and match -- putting old and new together.

They just opened a D.C. office. Instead of doing it online, you can go there, have a beer, glass of wine in a quick fitting and consultation. Then the stylist sends you clothes when you need something new.
