Officer involved shooting at Cromwell Light Rail Station
Anne Arundel County officers responded to assist the Mass Transit Administration Police (MTA) with an officer involved shooting around 6:30pm Saturday afternoon. .
According to police, the MTA police officer was flagged over by two citizens at the Cromwell Light Rail Station bus loop shelter. The citizens asked for the officer to intervene with another individual, a female, who was also inside of the bus loop shelter.
The 3-year veteran female officer attempted to speak to the suspect who was uncooperative and began to assault the officer by choking her and pulling her hair.
According to witnesses, the officer could not break free from the suspect. Several other witnesses attempted to control the suspect and get her off of the officer, but they were unsuccessful.
The officer, in fear for her life, was able to remove her service weapon and fire one shot, striking the suspect in her upper leg area. There was only one round fired.
Both the suspect and the officer were transported to local hospitals. The suspect was pronounced deceased. The officer is being treated for non-life the watching injuries.
Officer Tracy Turpin was treated and released. She will be placed on routine administrative duties.
The suspect has been identified as 38 year old Angela Beatrice Randolph.
