Police seek armed gunman after 7-Eleven robbery

Posted: Updated:
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -- A store clerk at a 7-Eleven in Clinton Township was robbed at gunpoint but it was all caught on tape.

The thief wasted no time. Just after midnight June 3, a man pops into the convenience store on 15 Mile Road and Kelly Road with a steel blue automatic handgun and jumps over the counter.

"At the time there was a single female clerk in the store. The suspect, who we have a description of as a possible Asian male, early 20s, thin build," says Bryan Gilbert.

Police say the suspect pressed his gun into the clerk's throat. He took the cash from the drawer and locked the clerk in the back room before he popped back over the counter and ran off.

He did it all in just 30 seconds.

"He seems to know what he's doing, though. He jumps the counter, goes right for the clerk, forces her into a back room, takes the money and then leaves," says Gilbert.

If you recognize the suspect call the Clinton Township Police at 586-493-7845.
