CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The creator of "Slenderman" is speaking out after a horrific stabbing in Wisconsin.

The man behind the mythical monster, Eric Knudsen, says he is "deeply saddened" by the stabbings, reportedly carried out by two girls in the name of the internet character.

“Some say I’m evil, but all I ever wanted was (a) friend. I think that a few dozen casualties are to be expected during the quest for friendship,” reads the “About” description of Slenderman (also known as The Slender Man) on the character’s public figure Facebook page, which has well over one million likes.

The two 12-year-old girls were charged as adults for allegedly stabbing their friend 19 times during a game of hide-and-seek in the woods.
