Makeup 911 Tips

Posted: Updated:

If you suffer from runny eyes, dark circles, and other beauty blunders, celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg is here to help. She has a YouTube channel featuring some of her favorite clients where she offers tips and tricks behind the scenes.

Beauty 911 Tips:

Just off a Red Eye?

To deal with red eyes, apply a flesh tone or white eyeliner to the bottom water rim. This will help make eyes look whiter. Additionally, when eyes are red, going light on makeup is always a good choice to avoid irritation. Consider keeping it simple with just black mascara to add definition to the eyes but not overdo it. It's a good idea to keep eye drops with you as well.

Outside and "crying" with watery eyes from allergies?

Now, when it comes to makeup and watery eyes, the key is to stick to waterproof mascara and waterproof liner. Some people might think that waterproof mascara might dry out their eyes, so put a coat of regular mascara, let it dry and then put a second coat of waterproof mascara. If you're an allergy sufferer, find a good antihistamine. Zyrtec really works for me as well to help relieve my symptoms.

Big zit before a big date?

First try a warm compress to shrink. If you don't have time for that, make sure the skin is primed and prepped with proper skin care and foundation. Before you set the face with powder, use a green correction concealer for the redness (around the zit). Next, take a concealer the same color as the skin and dab with a tapping motion over the blemish. Lastly, sweep translucent powder over the blemish and then all over the face. You can also opt for big earrings or a bold lip to detract.

Dark circles from a late night out?

Start by drinking lots of water to rehydrate your skin. Then, apply a nice calming moisturizer and, once dry, apply concealer to help hide the darkness around the eyes. Also, avoid using a lot of eye makeup as it could amplify dark circles. Instead, highlight the eye area using a light, shimmery color to help reflect light and make your eyes look more awake.

Red nose from too much tissue?

Apply a nice calming moisturizer to your nose to help soothe and hydrate skin before applying any makeup. I like to use an argan balm or coconut oil, which helps to nourish and moisturize skin but isn’t greasy. Then, apply a colored primer to help cancel out redness.
