CIA OFFICIAL OUTTED - The White House accidentally leaked the name of the CIA's chief of station in Kabul over the weekend. The leak happened on President Barack Obama's surprise visit to Afghanistan Sunday. The White House press office mistakenly included the CIA officer's name on a list of 15 senior U.S. officials participating in a military briefing for Obama at Bagram Airfield. The list had been compiled by U.S. military officials for the White House press office to give to the press corps. The CIA officer was identified in the initial list as "Chief of Station."

Next year the Federal Government will I,pose strict new requirement for any food in a school lunch. The rules set fat, calorie, sugar and sodium limits on foods in the lunch line and beyond. Some schools say students don't like the food. An agriculture spending bill approved by a House committee last week would allow schools to waive the standards

WHITE HOUSE SCIENCE FAIR - 11:45 a.ml Ok, get really to get your "Inner Geek" on President Obama is hosting the White House's science fair focusing on the achievements of girls and women and with new initiatives to improve science, technology, engineering and math. Obama was to announce Tuesday new assistance to train teachers, help for low-income students and a mentoring program in seven cities across the country. MARYLAND SCHOOL STARTS - How early should school start in Maryland? A task force says later than they do now: The group formed by Gov. O'Malley will recommend that the summer break be extended. This year, school starts in most systems around the state Aug. 26, a week before Labor Day. Maryland officials said that the task force, convened by the Maryland General Assembly last year to study the issue, voted 11-4 this week to recommend that schools open after Labor Day. It's a change that has been championed by Comptroller Peter Franchot for its economic benefits to local businesses and the state's tourism industry. Most superintendents oppose it.
