Salt River Police Department say the officer killed during Saturday morning's traffic stop is Jair Cabrera. Cabrera had served with the department for 7 years.

Cabrera made a traffic stop near a Chevron gas station at Pima and Chaparral Road in Scottsdale at 3:05am.  According to the FBI, a suspect in the vehicle fired a weapon at the police car.  Cabrera was hit by a bullet that went through the windshield of his police cruiser. The FBI says three people were in the car at the time of the shooting and the Salt River PD says all suspects are in custody.

Cabrera is survived by his father, mother, brother, and girlfriend.
