Detroiters march to stop the violence

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -- Even though, violence is declining overall in Detroit, it's still widespread.  Two groups are taking a stand and not waiting for someone else to take action.

They're fed up because the violence hits too close to home.  The two groups gathered separately Friday to try to get the message across.

One group marched along Vernor Highway on the city's southwest side, where a married couple was shot Wednesday while stopped at an intersection.

The other group in northwest Detroit near McNichols and Grand River has the same message: Stop the violence.

Though small in number, the groups say they hope to reach out to more people to spread a message of peace
