Better late than never, a 79-year-old woman finally graduates high school.
Alice Walner waited 62 years to slip on her cap and gown and receive her high school diploma. On Wednesday night, she walked with her graduating class.
Her entire family, including her husband of almost fifty years, their five kids and dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren, watched with pride.
Alice left high school at 16 to get married and start a family, and two years ago, decided to go back and earn her diploma. One question came to everyone's mind...why?
"I've always wanted my diploma. I quit school, got married, raised kids and worked and now it's time to settle down," she said.
The recent high school grad says it is never too late to follow your dreams.
"She got up early in the morning and late at night she wouldn't give it up," said Alice’s husband Sherman.
"It's never too late to learn that's right and if you've got a dream go for it," she said.
Alice says watching her husband and son get their diplomas through military inspired her to go get hers.
