Surveillance Video Shows Kids Shocked In Apartment Complex Pool

Posted: Updated:

Hialeah, FL- It was a close call for a group of kids playing in a Florida pool after it became electrically charged.

Surveillance video caught the incident that happened at the Palm West Garden apartments.

In the video you can see as the swimmers touched the pool's hand railing; they immediately became shocked, and were unable to move.

One girl's father quickly pulled his child out. You can see him recoil from the electrical charges.

The other swimmers did make their way out of the water.

However, another young girl did become shocked and stuck after touching the railing.

The girl's grandfather rushed to pull her out, but the charge caused him to fall back.

"She went unconscious," said Diego Cabrera, who was one of the kids shocked. “I was in the pool and then the metal railing; I was swimming close to it then I felt the shock."

Randy Oliva, who lives in the apartment complex, says he does not feel comfortable going back into the pool.

The pool remains drained and investigators suspect unconnected ground wires in the pool pump could be to blame.

The wires are designed to take electrical charges away to the ground.

Reports say the pool passed two health department inspections last year, which included making sure the pool was up to electrical code.
