Giant Yellow Duck Becomes Tourist Attraction In Virginia

Posted: Updated:

Norfolf, Va.- A giant yellow duck is bobbing in Norfolk, Virginia’s waterfront.

The 40 ft. version of a bathtub toy is the work of Dutch artist, Forentijn Hofman.

Hofman dreamed up the "rubber duck" in 2001, while working on his graduate art degree.

He was commissioned to build it for an exhibition in France, and he went big , 85 ft. feet big.

While he has scaled back his inflatable art, Hofman's "rubber duck" has waddled the globe.

The big yellow attraction has visited China, England, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Brazil.

The duck was brought to Norfolk by the Chrysler Museum of Art where it will stay until the end of the month.
