Jon Stewart Rips Philadelphia After Ryne Sandberg Food Poisoning

Posted: Updated:
Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's “The Daily Show,” set his satirical sights on Philadelphia Tuesday night. The Lawrenceville, New Jersey native took aim at Philadelphia staples including the cheesesteak, Art Museum, Philly Phanatic, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

Stewart starts his profanity filled rant while reporting on a story about Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg’s case of food poisoning, after eating at a Shake Shack Restaurant in Queens, New York.

Stewart responds by asking if Sandberg would prefer a Philly Cheesesteak by saying “What kind of city takes the parts of the cow normal people throw away, throws it on a hunk of bread, and before they can call it their signature dish, asks, ‘Do you want me to put Wiz on that?’”

He then moves onto the Philadelphia Art Museum by showing footage of Rocky Balboa running up the steps and adding that the city is, “So dumb, it uses its Art Museum as exercise equipment.”

After taking issue with both the Phillies mascot, and Philadelphia brand cream cheese, Stewart admits that he actually loves cheesesteaks.
